Floor POD

Question:
Ive been seeing this adverstised alot lately.
Im not a huge fan of digital modeling or effects, but this seemed to have some nice features.
Anyways, has anyone played with this version of the POD yet?
Id like to know if its worth the 200 bucks. I might be interested in getting this as a replacement for my current amp (the marshall mg15) and as a hold over until I can get a good quality tube amp (and even then, I might still use it with the amp, if I like it enough for that purpose).
Answer:
i've never actually played on it, but i have NO good things about it. everyone says that all the effects sound very similar, and that there isn't very much control over said effects. also it's made out of plastic i think.
Answer:
The pastor at my church just got one. I haven't seen it or heard it yet, but I can confirm that it is made of plastic. Thus far that was the only complaint he had about it.

You would be better off going with one of the newer RP series from Digitech. For the same price you could get an RP350 and get a ton more features, and IMO, better tones. I have been hearing and reading alot of good things about the new digitech RP Series. Compare the two units side by side... You will see that the digitech is much better.

Although I do not own one, I believe they are very useful if you can't afford the whole Tube Amp, single effects deal. With this you have that all in one box.
Answer:
I still believe the XT Live is the best solution, and since you can get them $200-300 used, why not just get one rather than the FLoor POD?
Answer:
Silly question, but if the PODXTL is so wonderful, how come you can get them used?

I would check out the newer Digitech RP series as well as the new Zoom G series. Both of those processors represent generational changes over previous models. The Floor Pod is just a POD 2.0 repackaged into a floor pedal.

I have often wondered the same but you can pretty much get any kind of guitar equipment you want used. I think some guitar players change equipment like they change their underwear. There are also a lot of beginners, with more money than talent or time to practice, who buy lots of equipment and then lose interest a year later.
Answer:
I hope the loss of interrest is the case. I would hate to drop drop that much money on anything only to find out it's all hype. I don't get rid of anything. I still have the violin that I never learned to play.
Answer:
Casey, PianoMan, Rainer, Me, Jamforchrist123, and a few others have gotten XTL's in the last few months.

Note: Most of us had a collection of tube amps and lots of other pedals before buying the XTL.

Well, I didn't have a collection of tube amps, but I did/do have a Peavey Classic 30. I got the XTL for two reasons: I was tired of carrying around my pedal board; and I'm now playing worship at church, and we can't have amps on the stage, so I had to get an effects unit that had amp modeling. I had heard great things about the POD XT Live, so I decided to take the plunge and buy one. It took me a while to get used to it and learn how to make it sound good, but now I love it. I don't regret spending the money at all.
Answer:
The POD really augments the amp, rather than replace it (though it can replace it in direct recording/live sound situations).
And yeah, guitarists change their gear like their underwear. Amazing axes, amps, and pedals go on sale all the time. Just beacuse they're on sale doesn't mean that they're not any less great.
Answer:
Thanks for the info, guys.
Btw, your church doesnt let you use amps on stage?
What kind of crap is that?

Now that I have one, I can't ever see myself without an all tube-amp (it just gives that extra warmth, IMO). Throw a POD XTL in before a tube-amp, and you've got versitility AND warmth.

What kind of crap is that? Yeah, it's too bad, though it is nice not lugging in my amp every Sunday and Wednesday (and Monday for practice). Appearently many churches do not allow amps. I guess it lowers the stage volume and makes it easier for the singers to hear themselves.
Answer:
Yup, it's more common then you would think. My churches soundguy refused to use amps that didn't have a direct out for a long time...still is really picky about it really. It's another reason I like having my POD - good sound and he stays happy with me.
