Peavey at GC
Question: http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/doc...01288&g=guitar Answer: Its about time. Back when in July or August, when I go my HRDlx, I was hoping to A/B The Hotrod vs. the Classic 30. Well, the smaller local store that carried Peaveys, did not carry Fenders. So I went to GC. I told the guy that I wanted to AB Hotrod Deluxes and Classic 30s. He looked at me for a second and said "I dont think we really carry peavey stuff...unless its used". I was really shocked. How could one of the biggest music chains NOT CARRY PEAVEYS. Oh well...Im happy with my decision, but I wish I could have given the Peavey more time. Answer: that's awesome... Answer: I had always heard that (until fairly recently apparently) Hartley Peavey was very big into having "territories" that one store could serve. Don't know how true that is, but I've also heard the same thing about other companies. That's why you really didn't see Peavey in mail order catalogs until a few years ago. Answer: So that's why I could try out a Peavey Valveking at GC a couple weeks ago. Skeptics... Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer. Answer: Finally...Peavey starts making amps in China and Wal-Mart...err, I mean Guitar Center starts carrting them. I wonder what made Hartley say 'yes' finally... But I guess in this new "global marketplace" (read that "manufactured in third-world low-wage-earning countries, sell in western hemisphere") Peavey is just following suit all those who have gone before them. After all, cheaper is better, right? Answer: Originally Posted by gtrdave If Peavey were a new company, you'd have a point. After all, cheaper is better, right? I had the impression that the VK series was the only amps being made in China and the rest are still domestic products. At the same time, at least they're dropping the prices of their import products even more in comparison to their domestic line. Too bad we can't say the same for Vox. It's freaking awesome for that price... my point is that they reduced the price on the product because it was imported, even though they could probably charge $100 or $200 more and make a bigger profit. The Vox reference is that they're selling the AC30 reissues for $1000+ even though they're also an Asian import. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
