footswitch

Question:
I returned my friend's footswitch, specifically made for the Orange...I was wondering if I could use any footswitch in the market or am I supposed use a Orange fooswitch for an Orange amp...and I only know of one orange footswitch, which I have used.

Unless your footswitch input takes a special plug, pretty much any generic or other brand footswitch will work with most amps that use a one or two-button footswitch with a 1/4" mono or stereo plug. There's a chance the function that the footswitch says might control something else if you're using a different brand amp, but it should still work. i.e. My footswitch for my Vox also works for my Peavey Classic 30, only on my Classic 30 the effect switch is actually the channel switch and the channel switch works the reverb. You could even use a two-button switch for an amp that normally uses a single-button, but of course one of the buttons would serve no purpose in that case.
