Frustrated? Looking for a simple pedal?

Question:
I know i've been frustrated trying to find what I would call a "multi effects stompbox". It looks like a stomp box, uses one effect at a time (because I dont need 4 pedals), isnt expensive, and has good tone. Well, I finally found it!
The Yamaha Magicstomp (both 1 and 2).
This post was meant as a helpful tool for those guitarists out there that are looking for the same thing I was.

Answer:
wow, i didn't know there were still mutlifx floor units WITHOUT amp/cabinet modeling still on the market.
Answer:
I always thought the Boss ME-50 is a great, intuitive, simple multi-effects. Though, it is a little on the pricy side.
Answer:
Well jbm, let me better explain myself...
There are a bunch of little various fills and lead sounds that I'd rather not buy a stomp box for...if I did I'd have about 20 more boxes. Dont want em, dont need em, dont got the money for em. The magicstomp replaces all those. Seeing as how I wont be needing more than 3 "special effects" at a time this is the perfect tool.
Plus you can hook it up to your computer and BAM! You can program your own presets! AMAZING!
Answer:
the Magicstomp series of pedals are actually supposed to be some of the best sounding multis on the market.
Answer:
Anybody knows how the magicstomp compares to zoom g2, specifically in amp modelling?
Answer:
nice guitar meliasuk. i don't think it's meant to be huge on amp modeling but from what i remember the ac30 model/sound was sweet. alot of bands i know use it because they say the reverb sounds (and a few delays) are the best ever. and this is coming from big shoegaze fans.
Answer:
The pre-programmed stuff isn't earth-shattering at all. I got the 1st version and use it for worship Sunday mornings and am constantly tweaking the factory preset effects...but factory presets typically suck with any pedal. I haven't had the time to load the software or connect it to my computer just yet, but I'm hoping that will really take it over the top eventually. I use it with my Vox Valvetronix amp.
Answer:
Brent, I agree. Most presets are horrible, they are either too loud or are just totally the wrong sounds mixed together. But thats not why i'm getting this...its for the ability to program your own presets.

Answer:
So for anybody who's actually connected it to the computer to tweak things....how well does that work? How do you know what sounds you're creating? Do you need your guitar attached to it while building and tweaking these effects or what?
Answer:
Alot of times, presets are designed to impress you in the store, show you what the multi-fx can do. But there's few presets that are actually usable.
Answer:
I havent had a chance to put the software on my computer yet...i'm currently using my grandparents...mine is down for the time being.
But i'm loving the chorus, reverbs, and special effects. I have the 1st version, the buttons DO click but its NOTHING like those old Ibanez sound tanks...you wouldnt be able to hear the click live or even with your amp above 3 or 5, depending on what the wattage on your amp is.
