I have a question that everyone asks

Question:
I have decided to go for an amp first before I get a new acoustic guitar. Right now I am playing through a Fender Tele to a DigiTech GNX2 to the PA at my church. I would use this amp for church and to practice through at home. There are three amps I have narrowed my choices down to. The Crate Palomino V8, Epiphone Galaxie 10, or the Traynor YCV20WR. I know I want a tube amp, no solid state or modeling. My question is if anyone has experience with any of these amps and if anyone has anymore suggestions. I really want to stay away from getting an attentuator, but I might go for it. The Traynor YCV20WR is not really the amp I am leaning towards because of its price compared to the other 2.
Answer:
My friend has the Crate Palomino 15. It's a wonderful amp. I'd get that if I were you.
Answer:
I've only played the Galaxie and the Traynor, and they're both nice "low wattage" tube amps. To me, the Traynor seems like it's more "solid" and well made. I have had rather negative experiences with Crate tube products in the past (generally centering around their being very difficult to service/maintain), but I've never seen/played the Palomino. My gut response, though, is that the Traynor is priced a bit higher (in this case) because it is the nicer amp.

Answer:
I would highly recommend the Traynor. I own the YCV40WR, and it sounds extremely good for the money. One of the best buys i've ever made. They are great amps, build better than any i've seen so far, and they are backed up by one of the best warranties i've ever seen - if anything is broken within 2 years, then they will fix it, even if you did it. I would highly recommend seeing if you can try one out.
Answer:
Make sure to try to play with all three.
Answer:
I know I will be able to play the Crate and the Traynor, but since the Galaxie is discontinued I probably will not be able to get my hands on it. Right now I have $232 dollars saved up specifically for buying a new amp, so the Traynor might take a little longer. I have heard many good things about Traynor amps and that is what I have been looking at alot, but the price seems a little high.
Another question. Once I get my amp what tubes do you guys reccomend. I have heard alot about JJ tubes.
Answer:
I believe that the Galaxies have just been renamed the Valve series, for the most part. Not discontinued, per se.

Not discontinued, per se. the Valve series is pretty similar, and i've heard great things about them. the difference is that i believe the Galaxies were Class A/B while at least the smallest Valve series amp is Class A...I THINK.
that being said...I played through a Crate V16 Palomino once when i was buying my telecaster, and i thought it had great tone.
Answer:
Try here for the best price on the Traynor - nearly $90 off MF's price and only slightly more than the Epiphone Valve Standard price of $400. I would guess that MF would give you a price for their Traynor YCV20WR that would beat the price below. PianoMan, Casey and I are advocates for Traynor here. I say get the YCV20WR - the price difference is worth it!

Answer:
you might check out one of the new Peavey Valve Kings...I've read a couple user reviews and they sound amazing.
Answer:
Save up some more money. Get the Traynor. You won't regret it. I promise you that.
Of course, you should try them all out and make your own decision. But I seriously have never been more impressed with an amp of such a small size and price than when I tried out a Traynor 1x12 combo, and I'm 95% positive it was that exact model, the wine red YCV20WR.
Answer:
I personally would stay away from the Galaxie. It's the most unimpressive tube amp I've ever played.
Traynor's that I've played in the past (forget the model) have been very nice.
Crate? meh...

If they make such a thing as a V5 then, yes, I've played one.
It was ok. Better than the Galaxie, that's for sure.

It was ok. Better than the Galaxie, that's for sure. the smallest palomino is the V8. you might've played one of the older club/vintage club series.
