Need A Guitar Amp ASAP

Question:
My family and I are getting a new guitar amp for my Dad's birthday. His birthday is on the 28th. We don't want el cheapo, but not necessarily some huge tube amp either. Somewhere around 40-50 watts is fine. Thanks!
Oh, and I might add, it's an acoustic guitar with a magnetic pickup.
Answer:
Get a First Act amp!
Just kidding. Are you looking for an acoustic amplifier, or an electric guitar amp?

Answer:
my suggestion, run down to a GC and test some amps out if you got one close to you..
Answer:
The real question, is what will it be used for.
Just his acoustic?
Will you use it?
What style of music does he like?
Will he ever get an electric?

Yep.
Will you use it? Maybe, probably not though.
What style of music does he like? He mostly does P&W.
Will he ever get an electric? Probably not.
Answer:
they make amps specifically for acoustic guitars, i'd suggest finding one of those if he never plans on buying an electric, although a Fender might work (wonderful clean channels)... actually i've heard that for acoustic you're better off buying a bass amp than a guitar amp, but that's only what i've heard, i may be wrong...

What do you think of this one, this one, and this one?
Answer:
i'd be much more inclined to buy the marshall... look into a fender, the Vox isn't an acoustic amp and somebody told me that an acoustic guitar will damage a normal amp, but that may be wrong... somebody much more knowlegeable than me should tell you, i'm not a Vox guy so i can't advise you there, and Epi makes some nice stuff i don't konw about that particular amp though... i hear good things about this lil fender here...
Answer:
Honestly, an acoustic guitar through the Epi or Vox will sound less than stellar. Stick with strictly acoustic amps.

I have heard the Fender Acoustisonic Jr. It was okay. Seemed a little harsh, but it may have been the way the guitarist had it set up too.

If I was in the market for an acoustic amp, it would be something like the Roland AC60. Nice and light and good sound.
Answer:
Acutally I might suggest This or something similar. A straight up electric guitar amp is only voiced to be effective at the frequencies of guitar pickups.
An acoustic amp would do, but a keyboard amp would be more full range.

The acoustic guitar has a very full frequency range...much more like a keyboard than an electric guitar...but yeah...dang...I just remembered that he uses a magnetic pickup too...
So...Erm...I dont know...I will have to get back to this post (to finish) later.
Answer:
What acoustic does he have? Do you know the model?
Answer:
I second the Roland AC60. I've had extensive experience with one in my worship team years and it was an amazing acoustic amp.
Answer:
Love my SWR Strawberry Blonde. I've used it with everything from Guitars, Upright Bass, Mandolin, Violin...
