New Distortion

Question:
I've been looking around for a new distortion pedal. I really like the sound of the distortion on a Digitech RP80. It uses amp modeling so I used the Rectifier modeling and I turned the gain up to full. I really like this sound, but it's kind of thin. I need something with a thicker, more full tone. Any suggestions?
Answer:
What amp are you using?
Answer:
I'll be getting a Line 6 Spider II 2x10 in about a week. I would just use the distortion on the amp, but I switch from clean to dirty a lot so it would just be easier with a pedal.
Answer:
Fulltone Distortion Pro is what I use.
Answer:
Try a BOSS metal Zone or a Proco Rat II. There's also the Dr. Boogey, which is a clone of a mesa boogie (I think dual-rec) pre-amp that you can get. You either have to build it, or if you'd like I know a guy that builds them for about $125.

Ok, I'll look into them.

If you get the Line6 and like the dirty models then try:

or

or
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ler?sku=420047
because let's be realistic...what good is an amp like a Spider II if you can't switch between effects or channels or what not without a footswitch. that would drive me crazy!

I like the first one, I'll look into it.
Answer:
Yeah, my baby brother has a Spider II and I'll probably be getting him one of those foot pedals for Christmas. Should have mentioned those I guess....
Answer:
Also try the Line 6 Uber Metal.

I agree. The pedalboard will be useful even if you don't like the distortion on the Spider II.

Footswitch is a good way to go.
But I LOVE my Boss Metal zone. U can get thick, thin, harsh, smooth, scooped, nasaly, thundering, and screaming sounds with it. And it lets your actual genuine tone shine through. Used price was 40 bucks! :) The EQ is really really sensitive....I'm assuming that it can cut and boost frequencies 15 decibels..but I don't have any proof other than the fact that the numbers go up to +15 and down to -15. Anyway u can tweak the sound to infinity.
