Inexpensive Multi-Effect?
Question: I need a good quality multi-effect pedal that isn't too expensive. Any suggestions? Answer: I know digitech is fairly inexpensive, and pretty good....I'v heard zoom is cheap but not as good...but I'm not totally sure on what to recommend...I'm a little new at guitar effects.... Answer: shoot for like a Boss ME-50 or something. nice multifx unit. $300 brand new. Kato just managed to pick one up for like $150 though, so look around. it's better to spend a little bit more than to go w/ something cheap which will be crappy sounding. Answer: How much do you have to spend? If it were me, I'd try to pick up a PODxt Live for $200-250 (entirely possible with enough patience and used gear know-how). Answer: If you're just looking for effects, I suggest the ZOOM G2. 24bit/96khz sampling and 32bit effect processing, all for $100, $140 if you want one with an expression pedal. I want one... Another option is the Yamaha Magic Stomp II, though I think that's more like a bunch of single effects in a box, meaning you can't have more than one effect on at once. Deep editing through USB allows you to have incredible control over modulation effects and delays/reverbs. Get this one as an addition to any effects you may buy in the future. $80 on musician's friend right now...I hate being broke... Funny...a year ago everyone would have been saying "just skip on the multi's, they just can't compare to a few good stomp boxes..." Answer: I appreciate all your suggestions. However, spending a little more to get better quality is a sharply limited option at this point. I was actually looking at the Digitech, because I don't really have even have the 60-80 dollars for the Digitech to spend. Can someone tell me if the Digitech is crappy? Answer: It's probably the lowest quality of all the multi-effects. Why isn't saving your money an option? Answer: The ZOOM G2 that was referenced earlier is a great pedal. I believe that the one with the expression pedal is like the ZOOM G2.1 or something like that. Answer: Originally Posted by Kato It's probably the lowest quality of all the multi-effects. BTW, would this basically probably be my best option, then? http://music123.com/Zoom-G2.1U-Guita...-i245058.music Answer: I think the RP series Digitech are decent for the price. You could look for used on Ebay and get an RP50 for about $25 or an RP100 for about $40 Answer: Yeah, learn to play your guitar without 'em for now. I spent 4 or 5 years essentially effects-less until I got my POD a couple weeks ago. Opinions sure do change, don't they? I used to be a hardcore stompbox supporter... until I realized that I just can't afford them compared to multis. Answer: Okay, I understand that on an organ an expression pedal allows the user to control the volume of the instrument with his/her foot, but what exactly is a guitar expression pedal for? Answer: Easiest way to describe it is a knob you turn with a footpedal. You can usually set up an expression pedal on a multi-fx to control a particular effect, usually volume or wah. Answer: dude save up! I cant believe anyone who is told ahead of time to save up and that everything cheap=crap would still go ahead and waste the money on a peice of crap. SAVE UP please! You won't regret it I swear! Btw nothing in your price range is even moderately bad it all stinks! Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
