Music to my ears...
Question: No one is home besides me right now. You know what that means. LOUD AMP TIME. For the first time, I turned my Hotrod DeVille up to 3. That is the loudest it has ever been in my room, and possibly the loudest its ever been. My ears are still ringing. Its such a beautiful noise... Answer: I'm actually thinking about downsizing just so I can get that cranked tone... 1 and 2 just don't cut it for me. Answer: Doesn't get much louder after 3 or 4. Dang Fender pots. Anyway, I love loud amp time. Why didn't you just go all the way. I just gotta dime my amp on occasion... Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer. Doesn't get much louder after 3 or 4. Dang Fender pots. I really should have dimed it... I had to practice though, and it slipped my mind. I also cannot find my earplugs. Speaking of Fender pots, I hate how there's a specific molecule you have to have it on between 1 and 2 in order to get a volume that is acceptable to the other residents of the house... Answer: I LOVE LOVE LOVE no one home/loud amp time. The lack of shame I have in trying to suggest things to do to the wife & kiddos to get them out of the house is amazing. The only thing better is no one at church/loud amp time. Nothing tops the way my amp sounds cranked at home except the way it sounds cranked at church with the natural reverb of a 1200-seat auditorium. I think I'm going to go ahead and dime it. I need an attenuator... Answer: Drive and Master up to 12... Not as loud as I thought it would be, but I DEFINATELY need a noise gate for something like that. Other than that... it was absolutely amazing. I played on 12 for like 45 seconds and checked the back. The tubes were glowing blue. FORTY FIVE SECONDS. Next up is the clean channel. Holy crap I love tube amps. Answer: You new tube amp owners are so excitable. Answer: Yes we are...I mess myself once or twice a week! Of course my deuce was ss pre, tube out...so I went from half tube, to all tube (minus rectifier) Answer: I love my thd bivalve. Built in attenuator but its still fun to crank it though hehe. And the only time I did that was I accadentally put it on full volume(tunred of the attenuator) at church hehe. Answer: I have some alone cranked up time coming shortly... Answer: I like how my little Epiphones sound cranked....but some times I miss the kick in the chest volume I got with my old Crate 2X12. Oh well, I plan to buy a 1X15 or 2X15 cab soon enough. Of course, I also teach science, and I read the "tubes were glowing blue" observation. I think you'd also observe that the tubes glow blue when the amp is on "1." The color only depends on the mixture of gases that have leaked into the "vacuum" (it's not a total vacuum). As the ratio of nitrogen to oxygen to argon and such changes, so will the color. I don't have a tube amp, but I still also love no-one-in-church time. It is perty tight Answer: i got to crank my amp to 8 in the theatre in the student center yesterday for about 10 minutes before the administration came in and told me to turn down...
