The "2" is how many speakers. The "12" is the width, in inches, of each speaker.

you could actually be describing two different things...speaker configuration or cabinet size.
The Fender Hot Rod Deville is available in a 4x10" configuration (4 ten inch speakers) and the combo's dimensions are 23.5" x 23.5" x 10.75" (width, height, depth).
