New Amp
Question: Well, I have been looking for an amp for a while now. After studying up on here and reading reviews at Harmony Central, I decided that a Peavey Classic 30 or a Fender Blues Jr. was probably my best bet. After playing a Blues Jr. in GC for a while, I decided that it definately didn't have everything I wanted in an amp. I really wanted to play through a Classic 30, but due to my location it was too hard to find one. I checked in a bunch of Dallas area Guitar Centers for a used one, but I didn't get lucky. I didn't see one come up on Dallas area craigslist either. Since I was having so much trouble locating one, I decided to go eBay. I found a pretty good deal on one in my opinion yesterday. So I decide to go for it. It had a good descpription and pictures, so I thought it was worth the risk. I got it for $375 including shipping. The other auctions seem to go from about $275 to $325 plus shipping, so I thought the deal was pretty decent. So far I have had good communication with the seller. I feel pretty confident that everything will be fine with it, although I am a bit nervous. I imagine it will probably get here in about a week. This is kind of like waiting for ketchup to come out of one of those glass bottles onto your burger after not eating for 47 hours. Answer: Congrats. That's a great little amp and eBay is also where I picked mine up. You'll enjoy it for sure. The Peavey is a much better choice to me because it's not a single channel amp so I can have two different sounds to switch between. Answer: sweetness, enjoy.. Yeah, that is why I finally decided to go with the Classic 30. I thought it was going to be too hard to get the Blues Jr. into much overdrive. The wattage was also some of it, because I plan to be a rock star in a couple of years. Answer: we all do, but alas i have bad luck finding singers... Answer: Congrats Sabertooth. Ive been scouring the Dallas Craigslist as well. No doubt, you have seen many of my items on there. Austin has an awesome craigslist. I say a few weeks ago a MIM strat for $100!!!! I also saw a tweed 4x10 Hot Rod Deville for $300. I wish I was closer to there. I was seriously considering a C30...I acutally almost had my mind set, but after alot of playing, I decided the HRDlx would fit my needs the most...then I found an AWESOME deal on one. Where are you from btw? Im from arlington. Answer: there's nothing worse than the Atlanta Craigslist.. Answer: Yeah there is-it's tulsa-and it's because everyone there has the money to buy new-BUT now to the relevancy of this thread-Blues Jr is beaut-had one for a month but needed more presence (bought a twin )one bit of advice tho-if it hasn't already shipped ask to have them double box with peanuts between the two boxes-when my blues came it had a preamp cracked cause the guys at ups are gorillas-oo yeah and they cracked my twin Answer: Congrats on the amp dude. Louisiana has a crappy craigslist. But New Orleans has been growing a whole lot, i can tell. Answer: Congrats on the amp. Let us know how it works for you. Db Answer: I talked to the seller, and she said she was going to ask some people at a local music store the best way to ship it. So that sounded encouraging. She was supposed to ship today, so I should probably get it the middle of next week. Dallas craigslist isn't especially bad, but I never saw one pop up. I have seen good deals before, though. The ones that make me nervous are the ones that never even acknowledge your payment or and the thing just arrives in the mail. Answer: I just purchased a Classic 30 off of eBay as well. I've been very pleased with mine. The only issue I experienced was I had to replace the plug because the grounding plug was broken off. Not a huge deal, 'cause it was fairly easy to do, but extra work non-the-less. Is yours coming with the footswitch? Another positive I forgot to mention is that the owner has supposedly not been toting it anywhere. Originally Posted by JaytheK I just purchased a Classic 30 off of eBay as well. I'm hoping there is no damage, but almost everything is fixable, so that is a plus. I don't think it has a footswitch. I'll have to pu that in the future investment category, along with an attenuator. Answer: It came yesterday. That was a very fast deal. It took exactly one week, and it was shipped form Virginia. It was packed very well. No problems at all. The amp is in near perfect condition. It really looks brand new. I cranked it this morning. It has hard to describe it with words. Pretty much amazing. It makes me very happy. It is very funny to look at my MicroCube along side the Classic 30. The Peavey is near 4 times larger than the MicroCube. Here is a pic.
