building an iso cab, insulation?
Question: Hey guys... I'm building an isolation cab for my amp. Basically what it is is a cab with a 12" Celestion with a cover that goes on after you put a mic in the built in mic clip. My question is this: can I put regular house insulation in it, or will the "glass" particles somehow hurt the speakers?........~Shawn Answer: Im not sure if this is what you are talking about or not, but every Iso box ive seen has just been an empty sound-tight(mostly) box that is insulated, then you put your cab inside of that...the insulation shouldnt touch the speaker itself. Answer: Ok….for simplicities sake lets forget that it’s a ISO cab….I’m talking about putting insulation behind the baffle that the speaker is mounted to, stapled to the inside of the cab so it wouldn’t directly touch the speaker, but surely some particles would vibrate loose and find their way to the speaker….There is insulation inside of my studio monitors, for example. And, it looks just like regular pink house insulation… Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
