Amp suggestions?

Question:
(Arrg, i cant find the amps forum, , mods move this)
I'm getting a gibson sg faded (most likely) and I play mostly light punk, some more hardcore type styles. I have a nice effects pedal RP 200A so amp effects isnt a big issue, Im not in a band but i do have alot of loud jam sessions with my friends in witch i play lead, but i also spend alot of time playing in my house, by myself.
So I need a little help finding a good amp...
And if my choice for a guitar is totally off correct me on that too , one that looks nice AND plays well
Im finacially supported, my parents willl pay half, and my budget is always increasing...
Answer:
I was thinking, prehaps, about the Behringer V-Tone GMX212 Stereo Combo but, i still need advice
btw, i have about $1,000 max i can spend on a guitar, i want to spend about a 450 MAX on it, id really prefer a cheaper amp with quality preformance
Answer:
If you don't mind used and tube, you want:
Peavey Ultra
Peavey 5150
Yamaha T50C (mine!)
Peavey Bravo
Marshall DSL401
Trace Elliot Speed Twin
...or any comparable high-gain amp.
I'd say you want tube.
Look on www.craigslist.com to see if there's a city near you.

+1
I'd stay away from Beringer... and Digitech's amp models for that matter (especially after I've played through Vox's modeling stuff )
Answer:
Rainer's recommendations are spot-on.
I have personal experience with the Peavey Ultra and the Digitech pdeal. An old band I was in, I used the Ultra212 and the RP300. It was a perfect match. That's when I became convinced that modelling meets tubes is such an excellent solution. The Ultra is a 3 channel amp, and all 3 are definately usable. It has a speaker dampening switch, which is a simple technology that seems to mimic the effects of a tube rectifier. You can tighten the dampening for metal crunch, or loosen the dampening for some blues "squish".
And you can bypass the preamp alltogether and plug your RP straight into the return-in of the effects loop. The tonal possibilities of this solution are enormous!

I think that one was discontinued... you'd have to find it used.

Answer:
Actually, a lot of the amps I listed are discontinued. I love used stuff. Harmony Central is a good place to do research. www.harmony-central.com
