B-52? Yay or Nay?

Question:
I was in Guitar Center today, looking at amps. I tried quite a few tube ambs including a Vox, B-52, Fender, Marshall, and Mesa. I was not a fan of the Vox at all. The Marshall was ok, but I get the feeling I'm paying for a little white logo.Fender was alright, and I loved the Mesa Double Rect head with the 4x 12 Cab, but its about $1500 more than I can spend. Then I saw the B-52 AT-212 combo. Its all tube, sounds great in my opinion, and only $699 in the store. I'm not too familiar with B-52, so I wanted to get some opinions before I went and bought it. Has anybody heard anything bad about them? I just cant understand how they are so cheap.

Answer:
For me, its a yay. I have played that thing many timews at GC and I love it so much. I have heard it called "the poor man's mesa". I would go for it, with your music styles.
Answer:
amazing sounding budget amp. Don't really know about the reliability as I wouldn't call them that popular yet. I almost bought one, I'd be a hypocrite if I told you not to.

I've been doing some research and the only thing that people really seem to mention is that it gets really hot. Is this normal for tube amps? Sombody told me that it could be a biasing problem and could be easily fixed by a technician with a screwdriver. Apparently you could hook it up into a cab too, if needed. I really liked the sound out of it.
Answer:
Most decent tube amps, if not all, can be hooked up to an extension cab if desired.
I don't know about that amps particular heating problem, if research teels you it's biasing, then that's what it probably is. A fan can also be installed (like a pc cooling fan, for example), but from what I've heard from BSPE, it may introduce a small hum.
Sure you wanna buy new? You save a bundle buying used.
And I don't know about reliability, either, but it seems to sound good to my ears as well.

I'm not opposed to buying used. If I find something that I think is a good deal, I'd probably take it.
Answer:
In that case you should probably know that the Sea Tac Craigslist gets a huge amount of posts per day.

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on it. I guess the only benefit to Guitar Center is that if I want it I can just get it immediately and pay it off in a couple months,. If I go through somebody else, I have to save up. Thats not a bad thing though.
Answer:
i'm gonna buy one as soon as i have the cash, over much debate i decided that it wasn't worth taking out a loan for the orange.. i had the cash at one point but a rather large credit card bill took it away as i cried... i have a friend who 1: works at the GC and 2: has the amp... he said since his 2 years of working there he's only seen 3 returned which is way less than most amps and he tells me that it's built like a rock, and he's not just telling me that for commission because he reccomended it over a mesa...

It was a pretty good amp. I ended up getting a Line 6 Flextone 3. I love it.
Answer:
Line 6 is alright i guess, they are kinda ahead of the curve on the tube wannabe amps...
