Acoustic compressor

Question:
I need an acoustic compressor that can be a pedal, rack unit, or whatever. It can't color my tone though. Thanks guys.
Answer:
I really liked using my old Barber Tone Press. Great pedal, built like a tank, doesn't color the tone, and it isn't too expensive.
Don't have it now though, cause i'm replacing all my pedals with my POD XTL. It was the first to go.
Answer:
yes! another POD XTL'er

Answer:
Only time ive used a compressor on acoustic is on recording it makes it so its not so twangy. I uselaly run it throguht a compressor like 3-4 times just to get a basic sound.
Answer:
I use a Keeley and it works perfect, no coloring at all.

I have his old TP now, and I can vouch for all of the above.
Answer:
Anyone use a Boss or MXR compressor before? Thinking about getting one.
BTW, the Keeley is way out my price range.
Answer:
The Boss is not that great. I owned one for a year or two. Sounds decent, but it is extremely noisy. The MXR Dynacomp is very popular...for electrics. It colors the tone way too much for an acoustic.
Now, RyanSpeer has done a long search for the perfect acoustic compressor. He has tested pretty much every major brand compressor, as well as a lot of botique handmade compressors. Of everything, the Tone Press was his favorite for a long time. It was only replaced when Keeley redesigned his compressor, and it became his favorite. The Barber was still a solid second, and since it costs a fraction of the price of any other botique compressors...
Answer:
I like the PRESS but I just won a used Boss CS-3 off of ebay. I think that I am going to mod it into an optical compressor and clean out the junk parts, which will help drop the noise level down. Here is a where I may grab the new parts. http://www.monteallums.com/Product_links.html
Answer:
If you're comfortable with modding, then great! That is another good way to get a good sound, and sometimes it can be cheaper then just getting a good pedal. For some other resources, you might check out www.indyguitarist.com.
Answer:
Well, I got the compressor back and it totally rocks. The new parts really cleaned up the noise and changed the common Boss compressor into a high grade studio mod. At least I think so.
