which fender amp?
Question: i've been considering buying a fender tube amp for my sunday morning guitar stuff. since i wouldn't want to spend toooo much money, i've been considering getting one of the smaller tube amps. ive considered the blues junior and the blues deville. im leaning more towards the junior since it's only 15 watts and i dont need it too loud and i'd be using the clean channel with my Ibanez tubescreamer and maybe some other effects. is there anything else youd recommend? Answer: if you want to stick with Fender, the Blues Jr. would probably work great. I used one for a service once and i loved it. it was much quieter than my hot rod deluxe (samewattage as the blues deluxe) Answer: I've had good success using a blues jr. and would recommend that model to you. Answer: i own a blues jr, and it's a great little amp, especially for church use. it's only 15 watts, so you can turn it up at least a little bit on stage. it sounds totally awesome too. Answer: alright, then the jr it is. thanks Answer: I don't know if I'd like it for church use. It's only a single channel amp, so you get one sound from it without having to adjust the controls. So if your verse has light overdrive and your chorus has heavy overdrive or distortion then you'd need a *good* pedal to boost it up to that when you needed it. Since worship music has such a wide range of styles and tones I'd much prefer at least a two channel amp. A Peavey Classic 30 would be a good option for you, too, as it's footswitchable and you can easily (and cheaply) build an attenuator for it to tame the volume and still get to crank the tubes. Not to mention that one can be had for around (or usually less) than the Blues Jr. if you find it used. Ebay has them all the time. That's where I got mine for $350 shipped. Answer: Or, a used Traynor YCV20 if you must have a tube amp. These compare very favorably with the Fenders at a lower price, especially used. Where are you finding YCV20s cheaper than Blues Jrs? I looked at eBay and could only find YCV20WRs, most of which were about $100 more than the Blues Jr. Answer: Originally Posted by thesteve Where are you finding YCV20s cheaper than Blues Jrs? As Brent has pointed out, the Blues Jr. is a single channel amp and with the Traynors, you get two channels and the footswitch. You're right, on new ones, the Traynors are not cheaper than the Blues Jr., but, I think you get more amp for the money. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
