EL84 Tubes

Question:
Hey so I'm looking for Groove Tube's EL84. However, on their description of the EL34's they say, "Quick, soft overdrive distortion, great for recording but usually too low volume for live gigs."
I know the current EL34's in my amp are very loud but are these Groove tubes lower in volume?
Also my amp has 5 ECC83 tubes and 1 ECC82 tube. Could I replace a new set tubes for the ECC83 and the ECC82 tubes? Or do I need a different tube for the ECC82? Haha man I hope that makes sense.
Anyways Thanks!
Answer:
This is all going to be according to your amp. Without some THD Yellowjackets, I really doubt you'll be able to substitute EL84s for EL34s.

Anyways Thanks! I have 4 EL84's in my amp, which produces 30 watts, and it's STILL too loud for most venues, but it sounds GREAT!... Like The Steve said, you won't be able to just swap out tubes like that though, you will need some sort of convertor socket like the yellow jacket he mentioned.....~Shawn
Answer:
Oh Man I so did not mean to say EL34! I meant to say EL84.
But yeah Shawn my EL84's are pretty loud but I'm looking at Groove's EL84's and on their website they say their "too low volume for live gigs".
I think I'm just gonna get them. Haha.
OH also my amp has 5 ECC83 tubes and 1 ECC82 tube. Could I replace 6 new sets of tubes for the ECC83 and the ECC82 tubes? Or do I need a different tube for the ECC82? Haha man I hope that makes sense.
Answer:
I doubt that volume changes that drastically from one brand of EL84s to another.
as far as replacing the other tubes, you'd probably be best off getting 5 ECC83s and 1 ECC82 to replace them. an ECC82 may work in the spot of an ECC82, but with what result I have no idea. again, what amp is this that you're working on?
Answer:
I think the biggest difference brand to brand will be tone, not volume. And el84 powered amps can be pretty loud.
Answer:
The amp I'm working on is a Vox AC30.
Hey so for the ECC82, is this tube also called 12AU7?
Groove's description for the 12AU7 says " High current phase inverter or lower gain preamp tube."
Is this tube only used for low gain amps? Cause my amp is high gain.
Answer:
You can stick it in there to lower the gain.
Answer:
I believe the ECC82 and the 12AU7 are the same. Most likely in your amp it's being used as a phase inverter
Answer:
Cool alright!
Thanks a bunch guys! Now I finally know what tubes to get.
