Digitech Grunge Pedal
Question: Hello, I was thinking about buying a Digitech Grunge pedal, but i don't know a lot about them. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how well these work for live performances and how well they work with a mixer. Answer: From what I have heard the mixer out reaks, and if you want the grunge, go to ebay and find a DOD one. From what I know, the DOD grunge (I tihnk digitech used to be DOD) is alot better than the digitech one Answer: To answer your questions: It works, and it mixes. But I really suggest not getting it. Answer: It beats the DS-1, in my opinion. Some may argue that they are different "styles" of distortion...but still, its better than the DS-1 (according to some that isnt saying much, myself included). I was close to getting it once, I played it a lot and it gave a really beefy sound...it worked well with double humbuckers. In all, if you're lookin at the $30-$45 range for distortions, this is probably one of the better ones. Then again, 30 to 45 bucks wont get you much anyways. If you really want a good distortion, i'd go amp. Answer: Ds-1 can be an awesome pedal if you know how to mod it. aka the keeley mod. Answer: okay thanks everyone. I don't think I'll get one. Answer: smart choice Answer: Originally Posted by guitarjockey111 Ds-1 can be an awesome pedal if you know how to mod it. aka the keeley mod. Or if you know what you're doing. I know a few people who can EQ their amp right to make a DS-1 have the sound they're looking for. That said, unless you want a really dirty, bassy sound, I'd steer clear from the DS-1. Answer: You should never run an electric guitar straight into a mixer unless you have absolutely no choice. Mic'ing an amp is almost always a better option.
