An open G chord/ which fingers?
Question: As an old geezer I strongly recommend to use the 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers on a G. Why? Later. Blessed, Dan Answer: Hmmmm....my *guess* would be that it would allow for the guitarist to have more flexiblity with moving the bass note around with his/her first finger... Answer: and hammers Answer: It allows for quick access to the following chords: Gsus4 G7 Gmaj7 G6 Gadd9 Gm Gm7 Gm7b5 Probably a few more including a #11 Answer: Exactly, Dave! It also allows for a swift and precise change to a C Major and Cmaj7. Some chords, especially Gadd9 (old folks call it G2) and Gsus4 are virtually impossible to learn using the first three fingers. Eliminating those CSN&Y type endings of the old days. Blessed, and with a reason to sing, Dan Answer: I reccomend what ever fingers you'd need to move to the other chord forms in the tune... Blessed, and with a reason to sing, Dan You cant do a C maj7 with the first 3 fingers? Also, I quite regularly use my first 3 fingers for changes from G - C (and Cmaj7). Answer: The main reason, as already stated, is to be able to move into chords quickly and easily. Even better, it lets you do little hammer-ons and pull-offs in the chord, like 3-3 0-1 0-0 0-0 2-2 3-3 And as for Cmaj7...it is possible to do it with 1, 2, 3...but that doesn't allow for a quick and easy transition to the C chord-only moving a single finger if you use 2, 3, 4 for Cmaj7! When you begin to play around with chord variations, it immediately makes a lot more sense. It's simply the most efficient way to finger. Answer: which finger is which? and what G are you playing tab it please? Answer: The chord is an open G. The fingers are 1st to 4th, pointer to pinky. Do you really need this tabbed? Answer: Okey dokey Fingers 4 3 2 1 thumb (left hand) Tab: finger: string: 3 3 6 2 2 0 0 0 3 4 1 Answer: so its your pinky, pointy finger, and middle. why would this help me in the future? please inform me Answer: no, it's your pinky (#4) your ring finger (#3) and middle (#2). It makes switching to a C chord and others much easier and faster. Also it enables you to add a second or other things to your G. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
