Taking a break
Question: Our youth paster thought that it would be a good idea for our band to take a break from worship leading to kind of get everything back on track. I think it is a good Idea but what should we do during the down time. What should we pray about and what kind of stuff can we do to focus all on God while we play and not to come accross showy or cocky. I have only been playing guitar for a little over a year and I find it really hard to focus on God while playing without messing up. So any ideas would be appritiated. Thanks Answer: Dear friend, I pray that the Lord of heaven would take any feelings of rejection or failure that you may be experiencing and replace them with His peace. You are loved by God to do His service, sometimes the potter has to stop the spinning wheel to rearange the clay before putting it back into motion. Advice: Let God have His way - Don't kick against the pricks as Paul did Read - (2 Corinthians 9:7-8). Don't worry be happy!!!!!! "Let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:7-8). Put a smile on your face people won't think your cocky they will just see your having a good time. But don't just put a smile on, really seek the Lord for the Joy of your salvation to exude out of you like living waters. Hope it helps, Joe Answer: Originally Posted by spyrotheleo Our youth paster thought that it would be a good idea for our band to take a break from worship leading to kind of get everything back on track. Thanks Well first and foremost you should welcome the free time you've got and spend it in prayer, in listening and in productivity. Be thankfull in all things and pray for leading in how you're to move, listen for God to respond, and then spend time practicing your instrument and becoming more comfortable with it (maybe focus on just a few songs) so that you can really praise God without distraction. Answer: Being on the worship team requires you to give of your talents and time. It's a giving ministry and many forget to receive from God during the times they are not on the team. Instead they tend to stand in the congregation commenting on how the other worship team is doing. A worship team can "forget" how to fill themselves up again. So I suggest that during this time, you focus on God and on receiving his refreshing and new vision and more annointing from God so that when you are all up there again, you are one step ahead than the congragation and you can take them to a deeper level in His presance. Answer: A worship team can "forget" how to fill themselves up again This is so true I've had to fix that in myself in the past. If you lead worship there will always be someone pointing out the specks in your eyes (whether they can really see them or not). There is too much navel-gazing and condemnation in churches. Let your worship come from the joy of your salvation and let God make you what He wants you to be. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
