Well, that's easy to answer since I'm the electric guitarist
Simply put, no, I don't play it just like the recording, though I somewhat follow the theme. The main reason I like to make it my own is that I enjoy improvising and although I'm new to the church I'm at now, they seem to enjoy doing this song often so I try to keep it fresh by changing it slightly each time.

I had never played this song before today and I wasn't at rehearsal so I learned it in a way that sounded pretty much like the recording and ended up playing it that way.

Today was World Christian Day at our church. There were displays for mission trips and donuts and coffee. The youth band played and our youth pastor spoke. I played electric guitar and sang. Our set was:
