Where the thumb goes, the middle finger follows...

Question:
Ive noticed alot of new guitarist come and ask about finger placement, and how to do certain things on a guitar (ie; barre chords, harmonics, etc...).
So I was wondering, if we dont already have one of these, do you guys think it would be a good idea to have a thread that covers what would be considered the best ways to pull off certain techniques for the benefit of beginner, and intermediate guitarist who may not have a solid grasp of these things?
Answer:
I second this! I wish someone would show me that stuff. Gonna get FB SE soon though. But still, sounds like a really good idea to me.
Answer:
I'll need to pull up my lovely harmonics lesson, again...
You know how on tab books there's a big list of different notated techniques? Maybe something like that, everything compiled into one post, probably.
Answer:
Thats bassically what I had imagined.
Im not sure if it would work out just having it all in one post though.
Id really like for some of cgr's more experienced guitarist to throw in their solutions to some of the questions that pop up regularly.
That would be a good start.
Answer:
I am by no means an expert but I have been playing guitar for most of my life in a variety of styles from classical, to jazz, to even some rudimentry country. I'd be happy to be part of compiling a grand technique list.
Answer:
awesome. yeah, itd be cool for you to put your imput in.
Also, Id like it if guitarist who had expertise in a particular technique to post what they know, and the easiest ways to accomplish it.
And above all, with all of these things, we all know that the only way to get proficient at any technique is endless, mindnumbing hours of practice.
