Changing Tuning.

Question:
Hi! I am not able to read music and I don't know how to change my strings to different notes.
I, too, am trying to tune my guitar to the Jars of clay style, but I don't know what a B note sounds like or an E note.
Is there a way you can explain this to me? Thanks!!!!!
Answer:
Get a chromatic tuner.

And you might want to consider some basic music lessons.

A good, cheap chromatic tuner is a Korg CA30. I have it and it works awesome.

Yeah, I have the same one. I hate it for my acoustic though. The mic is to sensitive.

Reliable enough, since acoustic guitarists (and musicians) the world over usually use some sort of chromatic tuner in order to get their instruments in tune. The built in mic may be cheap on the Korg, but chromatic tuner is a rather encompassing term.

i've never heard of a band having their own tuning... you should learn more about the guitar if not about music, tunings are based off of mathematical computations, not by any band's style, they probably use a capo to change key's but that's not changing tuning.. they may however play some or all of their songs in a diff tuning but that doesn't make it a "Jars of clay style" but i doubt it... that being said i reccomend picking up a bookin on guitar like Mel Bay's or Berk Lee or even the really crappy one by Burt Casey any of those should help you learn the basics though i'd really reccomend Mel Bay's for a beginner over the other too, it's not too simple and not too hard, Burt Casey doesn't teach music, just guitar (big difference as there's a whole lot more to music than rythms and tabs) and berk lee is more advanced... you might even buy both the casey book and mel bay's they'd go great together...
