Song Selections - Week of June 18, 2006
Question: Call to Worship - My Lord, What A Morning (D) Welcome from Pastor You Are God Alone (A) Shout To The Lord (A) Collection of Offerings [maybe "Holy Visitation," but I doubt it] Great Are You (E) Wholly Yours (E) Sermon: Joel (continuing through minor prophets) Invitation: Faith Of Our Fathers (E) Prayer of Benediction ------------------------------------------------------------------- The first three songs will be preceded / interrupted by some readings from Joel, since they all contain themes from that book (the day of the Lord, God being God alone, and the Lord as a "tower of refuge and strength"). The second two-song set is sort of a response to the often disturbing themes of the book of Joel. "Who am I, and great are You" is the natural response. "Wholly Yours" answers the question, "Who am I(?), and great are You." I had to fit a Fathers' Day song in somewhere. Holy is the Lord (G) Every Move I Make (G) Amazing Grace (E) He Knows My Name (E) Here I Am To Worship (E) Those were to about 15 kids who showed up to their Sabbath School (typical summer crowd). None of them sang and two girls came up to me right before asking if they could play guitar and being dumb I said yes. The song leaders didn't know Holy is the Lord or He Knows My Name so I was the only one singing on those. There was no P.A. and no one sang which I really noticed when I stopped on Here I Am To Worship for an a capella chorus. Yes...the worst song service I've ever been a part of. Answer: My last sunday leading at St Nics as I am graduating in a couple of weeks ---------- Your love is amazing (G) Open the eyes of my heart (E) Holy holy holy is the Lord God almighty (E) ----- From the highest of heights (B) ----- Light of the world (E) You laid aside Your majesty (G) When I survey (F) See His love (C) ----- Be Thou my vision ---------- God bless, Rich Answer: Madly King of Glory Better is One Day Unashamed Answer: Originally Posted by Nate Wholly Yours (E) How has that one worked? Some parts work better than others. The choruses ("You are holy..." / "Glory, glory..."), I think, are easy enough to follow, and I hear people singing out on them. The verses are alright, though in E they're a little low in most people's ranges. The bridge is where I think people might get confused. I think the song will work better after people are more familiar with it. Answer: Morning: Forever Sometimes by Step He Knows My Name O God, Your Constant Care and Love Lead Me, Guide Me When All Thy Mercies - RUF In My Life, Lord, Be Glorified Evening: Come, Thou Almighty King That's Why We Praise Him Romans Doxology May the Mind of Christ My Savior Praise the Lord, Sing Hallelujah I Have Decided to Follow Jesus Answer: Haha, that makes three of us that used He Knows My Name this week. Answer: hehehe yeah But it was a fitting song for Father's Day. Our father knows our name, knows the count of each hair on our head, loves us unconditionally. Great stuff, eh ?
