Help! I'm nervous and excited!
Question: I found out last Thursday, but forgot to post, so I thought I would now, lol. I found out that I'm scheduled to be plugged in as lead acoustic guitar during Sunday morning worship next month (June)! If there's any advice, please let it come my way, lol, and if I make a mistake, will it probably be heard? Anything else that'd help me? I'm excited about this, but nervous as a cat at a dog show! Answer: If you make a mistake and keep going, your OK. Our music minister is our praise band leader. he leads with the acoustic. Many times, either at the beginning or end (even middle) of a song he will mess up, and instead of just fixing it and continuing, he will stop and give a loud "bleh" or "Mwaaa" into the mic...then says something about "isnt it great to always be suprised". If he were to just change chords and keep singing, only a hand full of people would even know. Answer: Praise God! I know that you've been anticipating something like this in your future, yes? Excellent. I have 2 pieces of advice...maybe 3: 1. Know your songs ahead of time. Have them as commited to memory as you can so that you are able to... 2. Worship. Playing music is all well and good but remember that Jesus said that one day (today!) worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. 3. Serve your team and serve the Lord. Offer a sacrifice of praise. There's more but I gotta get goin'. Answer: Originally Posted by gtrdave Praise God! I know that you've been anticipating something like this in your future, yes? The first one may be hard, because we don't know what we're playing until the day we play 'em. The worship leaders adopt a stance that I agree with, basically, the night before or whenever, ask God what He wants to hear. I don't like that it's always on Sunday that we learn which exact songs, but yeah, we have like, a two-hour practice/rehearsal thing, so that helps quite a bit. I've warmed up with the worship team and been on stage unplugged, so I know that stuff, heh, in case someone's wondering Answer: very good, very exciting. i believe God has called me to the music ministry as a profession, and my church has opened doors for me, too. congrats, good luck, and God speed. Stephen Answer: Just thought I'd say it . I'm nervous, but quite excited . (I know a made a thread about this before, but I wasn't sure if it was okay to resurrect. I was just telling the date it'd be) Answer: Just remember...it's not about you...unless you make glaringly obvious mistakes and horrid noises...then...it will be about you. j/k...praise God for this opportunity and here's to you serving Him with excellence. Thanks, heh, I can't wait for this thing! And best of all, it's gonna be right after my youth group's mission trip to my city, so I think I'm gonna be very fired up for God at that time Answer: Well, I'm plugged in with my bass every sunday, so it's no big deal for me. But sometimes I mess up. I just keep going and pick up with the rest of the song. It's no big deal to mess up. How old are you? If you're young that could help you out greatly. Answer: Your passion is very encouraging. May the Lord be with you. Answer: I'm fifteen, and this past week has totally fired me up for the Lord! Wahoo! Can't wait for Sunday! Answer: Today was GREAT! I didn't mess up (Not noticeably) . It was awesome! Thank God, heh, He is good! Worship was insanely good, though . I really liked it! I got over my fear quickly with His help Summary: Praise God Answer: hi Dageek, whatever you do, do it for God and let God do it through you (if that makes sense). if you make a mistake, just keep going and remember you're not alone up there in front. people will forget about your mistake before they even walk out the door, i gaurantee it. i wish you the best!
