Crowder, Hall, Tomlin

Question:
do you guys do a lot of songs by any of these guys? which do you prefer?
i dont do a lot of Tomlin b/c of his amazing range. i really like doing some of Crowder's stuff (like Oh Praise Him and Nobody Like You), and Hall is just amazing with stuff like Marvelous Light, Salvation, and All We Need....
....so....go ahead.
Answer:
I find that if you just change the key that tomlin's songs aren't too bad.
i prefer david crowder's stuff though.

never been a fan of charlier hall at all...
Answer:
I've only ever used songs by Tomlin, he has some fantastic songs (just require a bit of a key change!). Crowder is my favourite of the three by a long way but there are very few of his that I think I could use in a service. I've never used any of Hall's stuff as i just don't know it. I may use 'all we need' from the new passion CD at some point which I think is one of his.
God bless, Rich
Answer:
I do more Tomlin than either Crowder or Hall, but I do some stuff by those other two as well.
Out of modern worship songwriters, I prefer the likes of Aaron Senseman or Sandra McCracken.
Answer:
We do a bit of Tomlin - How Great is our God, King of Glory, Your Grace is Enough, and others.
Haven't really done much in worship from the other two though.
Answer:
We do a couple Charlie Hall and Chris Tomlin songs but I really don't care for David Crowder's music at all.
Answer:
We do a ton of Tomlin.
A bit of Crowder.
And hardly any (if at all) Hall.
Although that may change with the most recent Passion CD.
Answer:
man, you guys need to check out some of hall's songs then. i like him the best out of the 3 personally. seriously, if you haven't check out some of his older cd's, as well as his new one, flying into daybreak.
Answer:
we do alot of tomlin, like two of crowner, none of hall
Answer:
Of the 3, we do more of Tomlin's songs than the other two. I won't take as strong a position on Crowder as some have:

But at the same time, I see where he's coming from and most of Crowder's songs are, at best, awkward congregational singing (unless you've got a congregation of people who listen to Crowder all day at work or something like that...).
We do a few songs that are written by Charlie Hall, but I generally don't incorporate very much from the arrangements that Hall favors for his recordings. I also usually end up feeling like I need to theologically scrutinize Hall's stuff more than the others, and sometimes they don't end up passing for reasons of ambiguity.

Answer:
Hall's new stuff is OK-to-good
Hall's old stuff is way too repetitive, simple, and confusing. (how can something be simple and confusing at the same time? good question... but it is)

(how can something be simple and confusing at the same time? good question... but it is) i can see that. his music isn't necesarily the freshest, but i would probably prefer his songs to Crowder's, for the simple reason that some of Crowder's lyrics for songs, while good and powerful, can sometimes draw attentions from the purpose of worship. Charlie Hall, out of the three, is the best actual worshiper on stage, IMO. and his songs can be simplistic, but very powerful.
Answer:
I predict Chris Tomlin is going to be big.
Answer:
Tomlin and Crowder. Not much Hall. I like Crowder for his lyrics and Tomlin because my voice fits in his range. And both are great song writers.
Answer:
Tomlin is definately the best looking of the bunch.
