The entire service this week went especially well. I don't think I've received that many compliments on the music since long before the storm hit. I think it was mostly our rendition of "The Anchor Holds" that got to people, though... as it is an especially fitting song for us during this time.
In any event, "Praise To The Lord, The Almighty" is one of my all-time favorite hymns (of which there are close to 100, probably, but still). The way we do it (which I jacked from RUF) is slightly different from how most hymnals notate it. On the first part of the third line of each stanza (where the first stanza goes "All ye who hear..."), we extend what was once one full measure (the song is in 6/8) into twice that much. Instead of 1=all, 2=ye, 3=who, and 4-6=hear (numbers are eighth note subdivisions), it's 1-3=all, 4-5=ye, 6=who, and 1-6=hear. If you go to the RUF site, you can find this all notated much neater than I just did (www.igracemusic.com/hymnbook/hymns.html).
In His love,
Nate
