Question:
SupaNova has been bugging me in regards to writing a song about beards, so this afternoon, I succumbed the the urging, and turned this out. I realize it's very rough, but I'm sure with some critique, I can tie the shreds together into something passable, so have at it, here it is:
A Discourse on Societal Reactions to Beards and What Are We Going To Do About It?
Sometimes I think it’s strange that something like facial hair,
Could sway the way we’re seen by everybody everywhere,
If you walk into a room with some fur hanging on your face,
The fur might make you the man of the hour or label you a disgrace,
It’s just a beard
It’s just a little thing,
It won’t send you to Heaven,
And it sure won’t send you to Hell,
It’s one of those details,
That we’re all busy watching,
While God is looking in at our hearts,
If you don’t shave in time and you obtain a hairy upper lip,
You can sit back and watch as people’s opinions of you slip,
Or if you grow an imperial while everybody else gets side-whiskers,
Walk down a street with your dainty beard and listen for the snickers,
It’s just a beard,
It’s just a little thing,
It won’t send you to Heaven,
And it sure won’t send you to Hell,
It’s one of those details,
That we’re all busy watching,
While God is looking in at our hearts,
If you happen to be wearing an exotic type of beard,
Most likely many people will label you as weird,
And because you grew your hair in a nonstandard configuration,
And got a negative response you’ll come to the realization,
That it’s just a beard,
It’s just a little thing,
It won’t send you to Heaven,
And it sure won’t send you to Hell,
It’s one of those details,
That we’re all busy watching,
While God is looking in at our hearts,
If you judge people by their beards this is a cautionary note for you,
I’ll bet that Moses had a great big beard and Jesus had one too,
To make up for thinking that big bushy beards are wrong,
I challenge you to grow a beard at least five feet long,
It’s just a beard,
It’s just a little thing,
It won’t send you to Heaven,
And it sure won’t send you to Hell,
It’s one of those details,
That we’re all busy watching,
While God is looking in at our hearts.
