Question:
Hey everyone!

My youth group is doing a retreat very soon and I am supposed to come up with a newly released Praise and Worship song that goes along with our theme of "being who you want to be and being the best version of yourself". The retreat is for sophomores in high school in preparation for confirmation. If anyone has any ideas for a song of this type, please let me know! You will be helping reaching a lot of people, encouraging them to walk with Christ! Thank you so much!

Hopefully a speaker (at some point) will put a Biblical "spin" to that theme - on its own its not helping me think of any good songs.
I can think of one called "Holiness" (b/c my church is singing it this week) - it's not brand new, but it may work. An excerpt of the lyric:
"Holiness, Holiness, is what I long for. Holiness is what I need..." (comes from verse)
"Take my heart and form it; take my mind, transform it...." (comes from chorus)
A children's song called "Being Me" comes to mind, although it's not exactly congregational singing material unless your congregation is particularly goofy (It's about jungle animals and such).
"You Are My King" may work, again, depending on the "spin" of the theme.

While they're not really worship songs the first songs that popped into my head were Meant to Live and This is Your Life by Switchfoot... They'd at least be good opening/call to worship songs for that theme

I think any sort of "dedication" song would have at least a tangential connection: "Holiness," that Nate mentioned came to mind, "I Will Offer Up My Life," by Matt Redman, "Take My Life and Let It Be," by Francis Havergal, "Have Thine Own Way, Lord," by somebody I'm too lazy to look up, "Take This Life," by, I want to say Scott Krippayne, but I have no idea why ("Take this life as I live, and all I have to give, take this life as a worship offering..."), "Cry of My Heart," "I Will Never Be the Same Again?"

I'm not one for older songs but, "I don't want to be a casual Christian" from degarmo and key keeps comming to mind. Try it maybe make it more modern!
