matching chords with lyrics...
Question: just curious... how do you guys match the chords / tabs with the lyrics... (the tabs that you get from this site) i'm guessing you listen to the song... ... but, when the singing and other instruments are playing too, it gets really difficult to see where the chords go... (at least for me...) do you guys have some kind of trick, or some program that can eliminate other instruments or voices somehow..? h2o Answer: Basically, you assume that the chord changes every 2 or, more likely, 4 beats. At least I do. Answer: Originally Posted by bobthecockroach Basically, you assume that the chord changes every 2 or, more likely, 4 beats. At least I do. Yep, most music goes off of divisions and multiples of 4 (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc), with the most common being 2, 4, and 8... unless it is in something like 3/4 time. Naturally, there are exceptions though. Answer: listening to the bass can help a lot sometimes. It's really just listening to the beat and using your ears when you're playing with other people. It won't take long to get the hang of it. Answer: I think one good way is to sing along as you play. Somehow the changes will fall in place rather automatically... For standard situations, chords will typically change on the 1st and 3rd beat of the bar, but in some cases it may be pushed meaning the change comes on the end of the 4th beat instead of the 1st beat of the next measure or sometimes pushed on hte 2nd beat... An example of this is the song "Hiding Place" in CCC's Presence album, or Delirious's Paint The Town Red... I'm sure there's many more, but this is what I can think of for newer songs... just my 1 cent worth Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
