Charlie Hall - Flying Into Daybreak
Question: This is an AAAAAMAZING CD . . . anyone who leads worship should get it, there's a lot of songs that can be done corporatly and privately as a worshipper alone. It doesn't come out till later in January but I got a copy at Passion 2006 so just wait around for it. Two thumbs up for this one Answer: Charlie Hall is so good; I have the passion CD from a few years ago with "Psalm 126" and "Sweep Me Away" on it; it's good stuff. Answer: I'm not a Charlie Hall fan. But I'll check it out. I do like Marvelous Light - pretty much one of the only songs I like from him. And Salvation. Answer: I'm not a big Charlie Hall fan either. One listen to something about "Salvation spring up from the ground..." and "Yay Jesus...." or something like that, and I didn't know what to think. But I may give him another chance yet. Nate Answer: I lead worship in a church that grants me basically carte blanche to purchase worship resources and materials, so I get a fair amount of music just looking for stuff to play on Sunday Morning service. I really love Charlie Hall, and On the Road to Beautiful is a great disc, but there are almost no songs suitable for corporate worship. Here's hoping his new disc is better... Answer: this is the Best CD of the year IMO...great stuff. "Center" is going to be an awesome worship song along with "All I Need" and a few others. BTW Charlie rocked at Passion 06... Answer: Charley Hall is one of my favorite writers . The Porch and Altar album is my favorite so far . We do Salvation, King of Glory, Holy Visitation and Dont Pass us By off that album . His lyrics are more orented to the Psalmist in the relm of worship, warefare and intersession as a merged concept. They are not for normal feel good worship or the faint hearted and as such may be spiritually over the head of many . Answer: Or they may just be hard to sing in a corporate worship setting. I don't buy the "He's just more spiritual" crap. Answer: Originally Posted by psalm63adam Or they may just be hard to sing in a corporate worship setting. Many of the tunes off of the Prayers and Worship Volume 1 and 2 CD he was involved in and Porch and Altar are relatively easy to sing in a corporate setting . What I don`t see is most of todays fast food bless me club seeker synsitive churches having a clue on the lyrics . Nothing personall here but most of the P/W stuff that is popular today is quite shallow drivel in the lyrics. The old Hymms for example may not be my style but many had meat in the message. Now days it`s make me feel good for an hour but don`t challange or change me. Read this from Charlie Hal`ls Holy Visitation Sound The alarm gather the people ,gather the elders, let the ministers wail God take back the years that the enemy`s stolen Lord You are coming with Holy Visitation We return to you ,with fasting and weeping and mourning ,Oh my Lord your retuning We lie here weeping between porch and altar Pour out your spirit on your sons and your daughters or how about this Wake up you sleepers ,wake up you preacher Join with the prayers of saints and marters for two thousand years The Lord of the harvest, and angels in the clouds See the earth is white, and it`s time to swing the sickle down -- from Make Straight . Most churches won`t preach that strongly from the pulpets today much less sing something like that as worship. Answer: I play Charlie hall's Give us clean hands Nothing but the blood but the Between Porch and alter song has something about it that doesn't draw people into worship when I play it. Maybe it's just me. But since people are not drawn into worship when I play it, I won't do it. I only have a budget of $300.00 (canadian) to spend on music resources, books cd's strings sticks and stuff so I'm pretty picky on what cd I buy. over here 300.00 represents 15 cd's and nothing else. I don't know if a congregation's shallowness really bears into singing or not singing that particular song. For me, it would more be an issue of lyrical clarity. There are songs that say the same/very similar things with lyrics that are much clearer. I'm all for poetry, and I'm all for allusion to Scripture (a very good thing), but in terms of congregational singing, I'd prefer a lot of the issues were clarified inside the song, so that it doesn't take a sermon to dissect the song. Nate Answer: [sidebar] Charlie Hall's Marvelous Light is one of the free songs at Worship Together this week, if anyone's looking for freebies. Nothing But the Blood is by Matt Redman. Suddenly I feel You holding me Sweep me away Suddenly I feel Your hand in mine Sweep me away Suddenly I feel You leading me Sweep me away Suddenly I feel Your heart in mine Sweep me away ....ooops we're not suppose to post lyics in full.
