I NEED HELP!!!

Question:
ok,
i am new to post, and I really had no idea where to post this, so here it is.
I have been leading worship for about 5 years now. I'm gonna be a junior in college. I play acoustic guitar and i sing- go figure.
anyways...i have been leading worship now for a college ministry for a church of about 200.
ok- the pastor just retired and the college pastor is moving up to be the pastor and he asked me to be the worship leader for the church.
i am going to do it, but there is a choir, which i would like to keep... but i don't read music, and have never had any experience leading a choir- i have sung in many, and i know harmony and can pick out choir parts- i just don't read music.
i guess it's really not the choir i am worried about but the piano/organ players. How do i interact with them?
any one have any ideas, or any resources, or articles about this sort of thing....please.
thanks alot for the help- may God give you blessings that bless you.

Answer:
Always remember that the organ player gets to sit next to God in Heaven.
I have sung in lots of choirs, and, frankly, directing one does not seem that difficult. However, if not knowing how to read sheet music really bothers you, learn. It's not too difficult and I'm sure someone has even posted it on this site in one of the music forums before.
By the way, the forum that this would have gone in is probably Worship Leading. Theory and Technique is probably the forum where you want to look for stuff on sheet music. Welcome to CGR.
Answer:
Moving to the worship leading forum
Answer:
Use thier skills. Chances are they cant play guitar, and if they could lead choirs they'd already be doing it.
We had a worship leader who was great and the "big show" thing. could REALLY work a choir and get them to produce 200% more that they ever thought possible. Couldn't read music at all.
Get the keyboard player to play the tune/parts through for you. work together......
Answer:
Does anybody know where I could get free or inexpensive sheet music online...i know worship together has some stuff...but other that that, any ideas?

Depends on what you're looking for. Some of the artists include tabs or lead sheets. Public domain stuff (hymns) is pretty easy to find.
Answer:
Get the piano player to help you. Chances are he'll know more how to lead and read music. Plus talk to leaders from other churches.

Prayer is always a good thing.

My college chior at church is led by someone that doesnt really have a lick of musical sense. He is a wonderful soloist but more that anything the "success" of directing the chior lies in his amazing passion for worship. He really bases a lot on what Matt Redman put in Facedown. His only intention is to glorify God to the best of his abilities. You will be fine. If the passion is there, then the less important things will be set into place.
Answer:
Since you are already enrolled in college, pick up a couple classes on conducting and sightreading. It will come in very handy.
