Need "Sing to the King"
Question: The harvest time revival meetings are coming up August 18 at my church, and I am playing worship one of the nights. We've only had one practice so far, and the piano player is the one who brought some new music to that practice, and I have no way of contacting her. If possible, could somebody play and sing "Sing to the King" so I can learn it? Thanks so much! In Christ, Adam P. Answer: Go to Billy Foote's website. In the media section, choose the album I Have a River. You can listen to it there, plus he has lead sheets. Pretty cool. Answer: Originally Posted by Tony Go to Billy Foote's website. You have got to love worship leader/songwriters that will do all of that for you. Answer: Originally Posted by Sean You have got to love worship leader/songwriters that will do all of that for you. Absolutely. Where's all of your stuff, Sean? Answer: Originally Posted by Tony Absolutely. Where's all of your stuff, Sean? I'm just in it for the money. Answer: Alright! Thanks! Answer: I know that your pianist won't be singing the whole song, and neither does Billy Foote, but just for kicks, the complete lyrics to the original hymn (the chorus is Billy Foote's invention; the original chorus isn't as good so I won't bother typing it ): *No posting full lyrics* Answer: Thanks for the help Clopsed. Answer: Re-opened Answer: I thought I was clear enough about my last post. This song was originally a hymn. It was written in or around 1910. I assure you there's no copyright problem with me posting it. In fact, the author died in 1914, thus the copyright expired around 1989, if I'm remembering correctly the way these things work. Sing we the King who is coming to reign, Glory to Jesus, the Lamb that was slain, Life and salvation His empire shall bring. Joy to the nations when Jesus is King. All men shall dwell in His marvelous light, Races long severed His love shall unite, Justice and truth from His scepter shall spring, Wrong shall be ended when Jesus is King. All shall be well in His kingdom of peace, Freedom shall flourish and wisdom increase, Foe shall be friend when His triumph we sing, Sword shall be sickle when Jesus is King. Souls shall be saved from the burden of sin. Doubt shall not darken His witness within, Hell hath no terrors, and death hath no sting; Love is victorious when Jesus is King. Kingdom of Christ, for thy coming we pray, Hasten, O Father, the dawn of the day When this new song Thy creation shall sing, Satan is vanquished and Jesus is King. It expired way earlier than that even. Probably around 1940-50. Sing to the King who is coming to reign, Glory to Jesus, the Lamb that was slain; Righteousness, peace then His empire shall bring, Joy to the nations when Jesus is King. Foote's version has something different here in the third line: "Life and salvation, His empire shall bring." Answer: Yeah, I think that's the right line. I couldn't re-find the place I originally got the complete lyrics from, so I went with what I could find. Apparently, it was not as good a site. Answer: Hey, Maybe I didn't explain enough. I have the lyrics AND the chords already, I just don't know how the song goes. PS: Thanks for reopening Mara Answer: Well, the popular version of the song does not include the complete lyrics. I figured that even if you were doing that version, you might be interested in seeing the full lyrics. Answer: Originally Posted by Tony Go to Billy Foote's website.
