I'm trying to figure out just a "simple" rock melody or solo (i'd love to make/find a solo... just simply using one of the pentatonic scales in the CAGED series... simple to play ones, like A or C ...
anyone know of a rock song that is in one of those two scales with single note/tones used at a time? Something more modern would be nice .

It's not that no one wants to help, it's just that your question effectively has either no answer or 1,000,000 answers. About 90% of all rock solos ever played use only the pentatonic scale and consist of only one note at a time, and all of them could be transposed to any other pentatonic scale you like.
