Slightly confused on something, and RC on the song inside.
Question: Ok, so I was looking through hymns, found one I liked, and it inspired me to write a song. This was a while ago btw. Anyway, this is the original hymn by Jack p. Scholefield, it's called Saved, Saved. I've found a friend, Who is all to me, His love is ever true; I love to tell how He lifted me And what His grace can do for you. Refrain Saved by His power divine, Saved to new life sublime! Life now is sweet and my joy is complete, For I'm saved, saved, saved! He saves me from every sin and harm, Secures my soul each day; I'm leaning strong on His mighty arm; I know He'll guide me all the way. Refrain When poor and needy and all alone, In love He said to me, "Come unto Me and I'll lead you home, To live with Me eternally." Refrain And then this is my song (RC) Verse 1: Father You are all to me Your love is ever true You alone have delivered me By your grace have I known you Chorus: Saved by Your power divine Saved to new life sublime Life now is sweet and my joy is complete For I'm saved, I am saved, I am saved Verse 2: You make me walk in Your chosen path To be conformed into Your Son Keep me from Your righteous wrath Let only Your will be done Chorus x2 Bridge x2: Behold, He's mighty, a towering fortress of strength Behold, He's love Behold, He crushes all those who oppose Him For He is God So you sort of see my dilemma, there are similarities in the lyrics (the melody, rhythm and whatnot are totally different though). What do I put in the credits? And, please RC the song. Also, if you could suggest a title, or should I borrow the original's title? Answer: CyberHymnal has that song on their site listed as written in 1911. If that's true, it's out of copyright by now so you don't have any problems in that regard. Technically, you don't really even have to give credit to the original author, though I would certainly recommend it. I would just say "Words and music by *your name*, except chorus lyrics adapted from 1911 hymn 'Saved, Saved' by Jack Scholfield," or something to that effect. In His love, Nate Answer: Thanks for that Nate. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
