Did you feel the mountains.... acoustic, other versions?
Question: I'm playing 'did you feel the mountains tremble' w/ acoustic in key D and i'm finding it a little wierd to play w/ no drums and bass backing me up. Are there any other versions out there that flow a little better or maybe add some stuff to the song? Answer: Every time I've heard this song on just acoustic, they were strumming A LOT more than usual. That is, they were strumming short note values instead of long note values. Careful accent placement (on 1 and the upbeat of 2, IIRC) is also important for the song in question, especially with no "rhythm section" in place. In His love, Nate Answer: When I do this song just acoustic, I tend to strum very percussively, like I'm playing drums on the guitar. Answer: K what u play for chords? the normal just D and G pretty much thru the song? Answer: If you are doing it purely acoustic I would suggest not doing it in D - it goes up to a top F# which is very high for most people to sing in a large congregation with full band! I would play it in Bb or A (chords here) and do a more laid back version. can't think of any other versions of it that I know of but have a play around yourself, see what you can come up with! God Bless, Rich Answer: I like to pick the chords in this song instead of strumming, and try slowing it down too. -Nick Answer: Originally Posted by Rich* If you are doing it purely acoustic I would suggest not doing it in D - it goes up to a top F# which is very high for most people to sing in a large congregation with full band! Yeah, I don't usually play it in D for the same reason, though sometime I think it would be interesting to see a large group of people strain for that F# in the chorus. That said, I still try to make them reach a little bit because it is an emphasized point in the chorus. I tend to choose either the key of C (making the high note E), or Bb (making the high note D). I'll often "cheat" and go with a Capo in Bb because my more favored voicings of certain chords are easier to reach then... Nate Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
