Steel Guitar in worship

Question:
Has anyone tried this? Thought of it? After listening to Aaron Sprinkle's Lackluster I'm a bit inspired.
Answer:
It's something I've wanted to do for a long time. I do a good bit of slide and lap steel playing as it is, and Pedal Steel would be the next logical step. There are a few issues with my plan 1) I don't own a PSG, and 2) I wouldn't really know how to play one...I love the sound, the way Country and Western Swing players play, and the way people like Daniel Lanios use the instrument.
Answer:
Since I discovered Robert Randolph, the thought has come to my mind to eventually learn how to play a pedal steel and use it at church.

That'd be cool... except the DEVIL invented steel guitars (or was it just country music, I forget), so it's generally not accepted practice in most churches.
Answer:
I like the way Jars of Clay uses the steel guitar.
Some other groups, though, I get this image in my mind of 6 cats hanging from their tongues, with an "instrumentalist" alternately pulling on their tails to make them scream...
It's one of those instruments that I would only use if I had a very, very skillful instrumentalist playing it.

HAHhahaha!!!
Stop it, yer killin me!
Answer:
Well, A pedal lap guitar would be nice, but I'd like to play a dobro if I had one. My uncle can play just about every Bluegrass instrument invented and he has a steel guitar and a special nut that raises the strings and it counds so sweet when he plays it. I'd like to learn that.
