What is the name of this song?
Question: Here are the lyrics as best as I can remember: Verse: you are so wonderful you are so *something* Chorus: it's all about you it's all about you it's all about you Jesus. bridge: you are good, all the time, all the time, you are good. Answer: "Stereotypical Modern Worship Song"? Answer: @Nate! I know of a song that has that bridge, but different lyrics and chorus It's called "You are Good" (http://www.pwarchive.com/song.aspx?SongID=1455&v=1) But probably not it. Answer: I know of a few P&W songs with that chorus. Try "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" (hint: there's two versions of this song.) Answer: Originally Posted by Nate "Stereotypical Modern Worship Song"? I would not try to defend songs that have so many duplicate lyrics, but I would argue that it is not that sad. To prove my point, look at the Psalms. They have plenty of duplicate lyrics in many different Psalms (Songs). Answer: If someone wants to discuss worship song lyrics (again), please start a new thread. Otherwise, if no one has an answer to the original question (the name of a particular song), I will close this one shortly. Answer: It's All About You (Jesus, Lover of My Soul) by Paul Oakley © 1995 Kingsway's Thankyou Music Answer: Originally Posted by March It's All About You (Jesus, Lover of My Soul) by Paul Oakley © 1995 Kingsway's Thankyou Music Or possibly Israel Houghton's "You Are Good" (©2001 Integrity's Praise! Music) Answer: It may have lines in common with each of those songs, but neither of those songs repeats the line as much as this mystery song does. I think it was probably just some spontaneous thing that some local worship band did once, or else some amateur-written worship song that some local worship band did. It's hard to imagine this was actually any widespread worship song that we'd be able to come up with, even though some lines of the lyrics appear in one form or another in some of those widespread worship songs. That's not to say it might not have been a good song (though I doubt it), it's just that we're not going to be able to figure out what exactly it was. Yeah like how those Psalmists were so lazy that they repeated "his love endures forever" 38 times and Chronicles used it 6 times. Its in Psalm 118 5 times and Psalm 136 19 times. Those guys were so lazy.... I just wanted to point out that repeating phrases isn't necessarily bad or unbiblical. In fact, it IS biblical to repeat phrases over and over. Answer: You guys are correct. My bad. Answer: Originally Posted by Sean I just wanted to point out that repeating phrases isn't necessarily bad or unbiblical. Although this may be getting off topic, I often find that this is a criticism that some more traditional-types have of the less-traditional manner of singing/songwriting. I think it may be because the more traditional style leaves the constant repetitions to the "liturgy" section of the service. Nate As far as the song goes, the words strike me as well as a blending of a number of contemporary songs - sometimes bands will do this, but sometimes the mind of someone recalling lyrics will do this as well, even though they've never sung those lyrics all together at once in the same song. They're just so similar, they get blended. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
