Hey dude, don't feel bad people have been a bit slack on the critique side lately.
yeah, it's a good start. It's pretty cliche, it's been done so many times. You've done it well, but it's nothing new. I'd suggest complety rewriting it, using your same idea. Get rid of those repeated lines in the verses, expand on ideas and really get deep in the topic. Draw a picture in you mind then put it into words.
