Question:
tell me your opinion..
girls on guitar..
does it work in a worship band? or does 'following the leader' come easier when a boy on lead?
thank you
Answer:
girls on guitar? fine by me. i don't think i've had many chances to even jam with a girl who plays though...
in the w\team setting i really don't know. i think it could work, but i have no reason to believe either way. i would think though as a general rule of thumb, the leadership possession is more likely to be accepted by more people if it's a man.

Yeah, why not? Who ever said a guy had to lead?
Answer:
I think it's awesome to see a girl on any instrument in a mostly guy band. Like Motley Crue's new drummer.
Answer:
It will only work if the male members of the band are willing to recognize you as the leader. If you were just singing, i can see where a lot of male musicians would say "hey i'm not letting that little girl lead" but if your guitar skills are average or better, it would be less likely to be a problem to them. I would be able to tell you more if i knew you and your band personally, but since i don't, there's not much else i can say.
Answer:
itz great to c girls in bands nether mind leading, our band is all male and it wud look so much better ifwe had a girl in, and as for girls leading, why not i wud find it amazing. and as for the leadership element i think she would be accepted fine just as well as a male if not beter
Answer:
I don't have any problems with girls leading. The worship leader for the adults and the youth band at my church that I play in are women. They don't play guitar, but they can both sing good. Especially the youth band leader.

i guess my problem is that when i play the guitar and sing at the same time, my voice is not as strong as it would be when i just sing. i think that might be a hindering factor when i lead. any suggestions?
Answer:
i'm a girl that leads worship with a guitar...so yes, it can be done and has been done. peace out.
Answer:
My sister plays bass in our worship band and its cool!
i dont think it matters at all as long as their heart is for worship
saying 'you cant play cos you're a girl' is wrong because that is making worship about things at our end not gods end.
if God has gifted a girl to lead that is ace just as if god has gifted a bloke to lead, he decides, we just worship :kgrin:
God Bless, Snappy

when i had a band, my lead guitarists was a girl and she rocked. she is the best guitarists around here i have seen and she has recently won some songwriting contests in Nashville. i would most certainly say she is qualified to lead worship. the only problem is she doesn't like to sing, but she actually has a pretty good voice. she just needs some confidence.

for some reason i have never seen a girl playing the guitar for church. kinda wierd. i think it'd be cool to see, i wonder why it is kind of rare. most of the time when a girl is in a worship band all she does is sing but i would have no problem if she was the lead worshipper. in my worship team we have a girl who plays the bass and she is awesome. i haven't seen any local guys who could compete with her so i am all for girls leading worship, gender doesn't have anything to do with how well you can play, sing or love God. and the bible isn't real clear about how to lead worship anyway so as long as you pray about it first (like everyone should male or female) you can become a lead worshipper.
Answer:
this is to several of you out there who sent me some messages that more or less accused me of being a guy putting girls down or something somehow by asking the gender question:
I AM A GIRL. it's not some guy who's questioning the abilities of a "weak girl" or whatever you call it. haha just getting it all straight here...:kroll:

she sounds a little like me. well sort of. i guess i have a good voice but i hate to use it. i prefer to stay behind my guitar.

I think it would be cool to see some girls on the guitar. You said it could be an issue of people not wanting to follow you or might have problems with you leading, I don't think that would be a very big problem. Espeicaly is a worship band. Church worship bands tend to be non-competitive. I don't know, i really never jamed with a girl before, but my gut tells me it will work out in you situation
