HELP.
Question: I feel so confused, i think that when we play we are also playing to create an atmosphere of worship for the congregation. this can be done through prayer, but i think worship practise is important. i think to practise is worshipping God, because playing infront of a congregation is leading people in worship of the Almighty God. and that is no joke. My friend says that I cannot practise worshipping God, and practising is not worship. i guess my question is, when is it performance and when is it worship? by practising, is it worship or performance? why do we practice? what are we playing for? People or God or both? Answer: that seems to be the $1000 question lately... i firmly believe in practice...excellence is vital in everything we do for God, anything from vacuuming the church to leading worship it needs to be done with excellence because that shows honor towards God. do i believe practice can be worship? absolutely. There have been times during our praise team practice where the presence of God was so beautiful and strong and it's an amazing moment when that happens, so i believe it can happen. Does it happen every practice time? Not every time, but we're always careful to be sensative to what God is wanting to do during that time. Essentially you should be playing for God, we practice and play with excellence again because it's pleasing to Him. We are also playing for other's benefit in the way that we help usher them in to God's presence and help them focus on God. i'd say if there's something going on in your practice times and you don't feel comepletely sure about why you're there...pray about it...ask God for vision, that's a very important thing to have for your worship team, vision and purpose. hope this helped... -Laia Answer: I think that something that can help with practicing would be of course prayer before, but to also have a seperate time of worship for the team. This is a chance to prepare the worship team for being spiritual leaders and to open them up to anything that can happen during the worship part of a service. Answer: Think of David, spending all his time alone as a shepard. This is the time when he developed himself as a worshipper and warrior. Worship has nothing to do with singing and a stage.
