I dont see how this fits with that particular part of the song.
It seems to me, we're never truly satisfied
'til we're walking out the door, hand in hand
i dont get this line. The song seems to be more about breaking up, but this line has the 2 people walking off together? Maybe im reading it wrong, but it just seems out of place.
Those are really the only things that really stood out in the song to me, and the bridge. Maybe im just slow today, but the bridge, and those 2 lines i quoted dont seem to fit in with the story of the song at all.
Other then those things i thot the rest was really kool.

this line is supposed to suggest that love had no power in our relationship. Like, you hear all the time, "Love conquers all..." well.. love wasn't there.

this is kind of weird. Because when you see "hand in hand" you expect it to symbolize togetherness.... well, it does in a way. It's supposed to symbolize the common ground we have in the midst of all of this. We're the same, yet different. We'll go our separate ways for now... hand in hand.
