Song Selections - week of 11.28.04
Question: This is the week when we are focusing on persecution, so everything is different. We are arranging all the chairs in a circular spiral pattern (we've done it before, it's really cool), with candles. We are confiscating everyone's Bibles. We are also having a small worship band - 2 acoustics, a keyboard, and congas. During the worship songs, on the screen, there will be a scrolling list of persecuted countries. PRELUDE (-:10) Announcements Playing WELCOME OPENING VIDEO (:01) Walk On PERSECUTION STORY (:06) First Century story WORSHIP SONG (:10) Trading My Sorrows (A) VIDEO #2 (:15) Christ In Youth Persecution Video WORSHIP SONG (:20) Blessed Be Your Name (A) PERSECUTION STORY (:25) Twenty-First Century story MESSAGE (:30) This will be a time when the senior pastor will talk about the fact that most persecuted Christians do not have a Bible; they rely on what they have memorized from a couple of pages of Scripture they have managed to collect. He will ask for whoever has some Scripture memorized, to say it out loud. If there are a lot of people who do it, he will encourage. If not, then he will exhort. (what a great word ) WORSHIP SONG (:40) He Knows My Name (G) PRAYER CARDS/PRAYER (:45) During this time, prayer cards will be passed out, and congregation will be encouraged to pray for the nation/person on the card. COMMUNION (:50) We will all take communion together. OFFERING (:55) SPECIAL MUSIC (during offering) This Road (Jars Of Clay) WALK-OUT MUSIC Announcements Playing Answer: O Come Let Us Adore Him All Creatures of Our God and King Forever (I'll worship at your throne...) Jesus All For Jesus Answer: We just had our youth service tonight. This is the songlist for it: Because of You Holy Moment Consuming Fire Forever How Great Thou Art (first time trying a hymn in youth service. we do them in youth emphasis, but this is the first time for a general youth service) Befriended Here I Am to Worship Jesus, Be the Center The after-service ended up being a blend of Jesus, Be the Center and Prepare the Way. It just happened. Had an amazing time in God's presence... Tomorrow, I'm going to develop...wait...I'm going to allow the Lord to impart his desired songlist to me for the youth emphasis service on Sunday night. Answer: I am playing keyboard tommorow morning so I know what we are doing. Here is the set list for then. Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee (Peppy Version) (D) Shout of Love (Holy Moment) (Em) Shine, Jesus, Shine (G) Everything that Has Breath (E) -Transitional- -Special Song- Here I Am To Worship (D) Breathe (G) Let My Words Be Few (G) Morning Message Answer: 11-28-04-Home for Thanksgiving, so I'm playing at my home church O Come, O Come Emanuel Come Thou Long Expected Jesus Enough Hiding Place Answer: It's youth emphasis again this week, and so the youth band is leading the service. We're making it yet more "youthier" this week; the electric guitar player is using quite a lot of effects. Everything from an auto-wah, to a chorus, flanger, distortion, OD, delay, and this really really wierd effect that I'm not even going to begin to explain. Anyways..blah...here's the list: Times of Refreshing Victory in Jesus Days of Elijah Oh Our Lord and King Come Thou Fount How Great Thou Art Unfailing Love (from Chris Tomlin's new "Arriving"...we're introducing it this week) Be Lifted Up/Here I Am To Worship You Alone Befriended How Great is Our God (also from Arriving, but we've already done this one a number of times) We're doing 2 of my favorite hymns this week; Come Thou Fount and How Great Thou Art. Answer: Nice Agrimes We did Come thou Fount and Days of Elijah this morning. We also did In Christ Alone. Answer: - Call to Worship - Here I am to Worship - Songs 1 - Be Thou My Vision Come Thou Long Expected Jesus - Songs 2 - Redeemed I Will Sing Of My Redeemer - Offering Special - There's Only One (Holy One)... -Off of the new Caedmons Call album- Answer: Our Music Pastor gave the sermon this morning, so, it was a bit more music oriented than usual although it followed the same flow. ~P&W~ All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name (vs. 1,4) - G All the Power You Need - G All Things are Possible - C/D ~First Two Points of The Sermon~ Hallelujah, What a Savior - G/A Draw Me Close - A Hallelujah... We're a non-denominational, charismatic church that observes Advent, so the list was... O Come All Ye Faithful Shout Joyfully Joy to the World Lord Reign in Me Come Thou Long Expected Jesus O Come Let Us Adore Him I think that covers it, if I didn't miss any... it was an unusually longer set.
