How long is your worship service?
Question: This thread comes form a question I had asked nix in a previous post and I quite curious to find out how different churches plan out their service I don't mind questions... we start at 10am and can go on to 10:45am... announcments and kids leaving for their classes (15 min) and then the sermon for 30 min. It just depends how the worship is going, if it's turning out to be a flop, then 15-20 min. 1 leader in our church does 6 songs one after the other, while I like to do less, so I normally only prepare 4... depending how long the songs can go on for of course. Our church service 1:00 pm greeting and prayer 1:05 Praise and worship 2:00 Announcements and release children 2:05 Message 3:00 Dismissal with call forward for prayer Sometimes I've played for 15 mins of prayer sometimes an hour you never know. Saturday nights are usually 1:15 to 1:30 long and Sunday mornings are usually 1:30 to 1:45 long with the music program at around 1/2 an hour in the front and a few minutes at the close of the service. Answer: Generally between 60 and 80 minutes long from prelude to post. Nate Answer: Our morning service varies from about 45minutes to an hour. Generally no longer than an hour though. Often the musicians will play longer than that though, cause they will play during communion and offering, and after the sermon. The night service is a 1 hour service, so that roughly breaks up into, 30 minutes of worship and 30 minutes of sermon. Answer: I will give mine in format: 10am - 10:05: greeting and prayer 10:05- 10:30/10:45: praise and worship 10:45 - 11:00: announcements/testimonies/release of kids 11:00 - 11:30: sermon 11:30 - 11:45: alter call/ end service prayer/ song. Answer: Our services are usually pretty close to an hour long. We don't generally say any specific part has to start at a specific time, but as a rule, the elements before the sermon take 15-20 minutes, the sermon takes 20-30 minutes, and the elements after the sermon take 15-20 minutes. Answer: Around 2 to 2 1/2 hours, about 45 minutes P&W, 45 minutes sermon, and announcement + offering + holy communion (if there is any) + closing prayer. Answer: An hour and a half, give or take. 10:30 (which is really 10:35 most days ) = Call to worship 10:35 / 40 ish = Welcome / Announcements / Scripture reading / Prayer 10:45 ish = Music (Offertory put in there somewhere) 11:05 / 10 ish = Sermon 11:45 ish = Invitation 12:00 ish = Benediction That's about how it goes most weeks. Sometimes stuff gets shifted, but the basic 10:30 to 12:00 schedule attempts to stay the same, with the sermon attempting to start by about 11:10 at the latest (I actually try to shoot for about 11:00 when I'm preparing, then figure that unexpected things will turn up to push it up a few minutes). In His love, Nate Answer: We have two services: 70 minutes long each one. We schedule the service for 70 minutes, but allow for 75 minutes. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
