"Hero" parody (RC)

Question:
Hey guys,
I'm not much of a songwriter, but I was listening to "Hero" by Chad Kroger and Josie Scott (I think they're the people who sing it), and I thought it would make a cool Christian parody. I would call it "Savoir". I don't have all the words hammered out, but I wanted to see what you songwriters thought of the idea.
The first verse (I really need some ideas for what to put here):
*something-something*
*something-something*
*something-something*
*something-something*
*something-something*
*something-something*
The first chorus:
"And they say that this baby can save us
He was born in a stable with hay......
Some (poor?) shepherds came,
and worshiped the Lord on that day....."
The second verse:
"Someone told me
that love will save us.....
But look at this man,
what can he give us?
By the killing, and the spilling
of his innocent blood...."
Second chorus (I really need some ideas for what to put here):
*something-something*
*something-something*
*something-something*
*something-something*
The bridge:
"Now that the world will be ending,
It's life I'm receiving from you.....
I know it is life everlasting,
and from now I'll be living for you....."
The third (through the final?) chorus:
"And I know that my Jesus has saved me,
he died on a cross in my place......
He was buried and then,
on the third day rose again....."
This is my first attempt at writing any song, parody or original, so forgive me if it sucks. Post away; I'll take suggestions, critiques, and encouragement (if you feel so inclined). Thanks!
In Christ,

Answer:
not bad! that's pretty good to me....and I don't know much about it either, other than if u go to God and ask Him for the right words. I try to write songs, but I never really come up with anything good. I'll try & post one of my songs sometime....If it's ok with u I can brainstorm some ideas for ur parts that have the *something* instead of words....also an idea of how the song goes would help, cuz I don't believe I've heard the song b'fore.....now I've heard the song Hero by Superchick........ If it's ok to help that would be awesome! just drop me a PM and let me know....

Zach.
Answer:
Yeah, that's exactly what I wanted: to have people give there suggestions for the *something* lines. Post away!

The first chorus:
"And they say that this baby can save us
He was born in a stable with hay......
Some (poor?) shepherds came,
and worshiped the Lord on that day....." It's a little obvious...plus I've never been a fan of "ay" rhymes.
The second verse:
"Someone told me
that love will save us.....
But look at this man,
what can he give us?
By the killing, and the spilling
of his innocent blood...." That works well.
The bridge:
"Now that the world will be ending,
It's life I'm receiving from you.....
I know it is life everlasting,
and from now I'll be living for you....." Okay.
The third (through the final?) chorus:
"And I know that my Jesus has saved me,
he died on a cross in my place......
He was buried and then,
on the third day rose again....." Not bad. Little obvious, but not bad.

Parodying other songs is actually a decent way to learn how to write, but eventually you have to step out and write your own stuff. This one has potential: it sounds like something Apologetix might do.

One email was a year or two ago, and the other was a couple months ago. Anyways, I figured that they would do a much better job writing a parody of it then I would. But they haven't, so I was giving it a shot myself. As for writing original songs......I'm not really that creative. I'm a good copier....like, I can learn things by example very well, but I'm not very good at making things up myself. Hopefully that will change and I'll be able to write my own songs. Anyways, thanks for the feedback!
