Perfect [RC]
Question: Saturday night- or rather, Sunday morning- I came up with the first four lines of this song at a time which falls somewhere between four and five AM. Other than that... Inspiration: Coldplay Style: Kind of emo, kind of indie. Plenty of acoustic guitar, or humbucker/blues. Note: The first four lines are meant to be played and sung cheerfully, and then the song adopts a lower, more pensive tone. Perfect by Jason Smith Syncopated Everyone is jaded Nothing’s dated It’s only retro, honey honey You sit inside yourself And you weep for an hour. Thirty-six, forty-two, hut, hike... Everything is okay, okay You tell yourself… Everyone around you Seems so bitter and sour But you’re perfect. You’ve got your flare-legs A button-down and a Timex, baby But you’re perfect. You don’t have time for All the little people They’re so below you They’re not retro They don’t drive your car Everything is fixed Everything is ready now Nothing out of place Straight hair and a separated brow Brown jacket and black shoes Nobody has more style than you do Answer: Why am I not surprised that you write songs about fashion? Answer: Haha! That is an excellent question. Though it is more of an anti-fashion song, I suppose. Analogies and all that. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
