Writing

Question:
Just curious as to how many of you guys use your own written material regularly in your worship sets?
Answer:
I'm just getting into song-writing, but as of yet I have not used any of my work in one of my church's services.
Nate
Answer:
I've only written one song that is at all good for coorporate worship, and I have used it when appropriate to the situation.
Answer:
We perform semi-regularly a new musical setting that I wrote for "Not What My Hands Have Done". We have also performed in the past a hymn that I wrote both music and lyrics for, as well as a hymn that [CGR's own] Amanda wrote lyrics and I wrote music for.
If I remember correctly, that is the entirety of the extent to which we have performed stuff that I have had a part in writing.
In His love,
Nate
Answer:
We often do songs that our music pastor has written (he's written worship songs almost exclusively for many years now). I'd say we probably do one of his about every other week or so.
We also do the occaisional song that was written by one of our Choir members (usually written by the one who wrote the song with the tritone modulation *shudder*).
Answer:
I don’t write many songs anymore. The last few have been for corporate singing, but I’m just not very good at it. The last thing I wrote was for a children’s processional for Palm Sunday.
I used to write a lot of children’s songs.
