The Difference Between House and Home (RC)

Question:
The Difference Between House and Home
The coldest night this year left us alone
At your house but you’re far from home
The radio blares; Nothing’s on
I take in every bit of static, it all makes sense
I’m still left wondering where the music went
The news is on, I’ve heard it all before
So who’s gonna save us
From drowning in monotony?
The static prevails, the dial fails

We’re both lost now inside this room
Hoping to find the damned radio soon
Turn it off, and kill the static
The news tells stories of far off wars
We’re both wondering what they’re fighting for
The fire glows, yet we’re both cold
So who’s gonna save us
From drowning in monotony?
The war goes on, no one ever won
GUITAR SOLO!!!!!
So who's gonna save us
From drowning in monotony
The news is off; The channel's been lost

Go at it. It has music already, so the rythym's been set.

The news is on, I’ve heard it all before I like this verse a lot, it's does a good job of setting the dreary mood of the song. The last lines at the end of both stanzas are kind of jarring because they don't apparently rhyme with anything, but that's not necesarrily a problem.

The static prevails, the dial fails I like this a lot too. Trying to sneak a Jimmy references in there, eh?

The fire glows, yet we’re both cold The first stanza here is pretty cool, it almost has kind of a black comedic feel to it. I'm kind of iffy about the war line, but I can't quite say that it doesn't fit.

The war goes on, no one ever won If this is just a direct reference to the war, then meh. It's sounds kind of cliche and a little too emo, ha ha.
So who's gonna save us
From drowning in monotony
The news is off; The channel's been lost The ending is good, the last line says a lot, I think, in it's simplicity.
Answer:
Eh... You're taking the war line out of context. It's not supposed to be a metaphor, it's literal.
The ending is good, the last line says a lot, I think, in it's simplicity. Ha, that was just something I made up on the spot thinking "I need a line right here." But I'm glad you like it.
Thanks for the RC!
