I was wondering why there weren't drum tabs available... CGR does house many a drummer within its forums. I like this idea.
Answer:
Ugh, please don't use drum tabs. Sheet music is THE way to read music on drums and it's really not hard to learn.

Most of us hate drum tabs and would have no part in transcribing

It is easier to use tabs, you just pick it up and play it. it makes life simpler.
Answer:
Actually, no. Tabs don't show rhythm, time signature, etc. Standard notation does.

I concure.
I know the thread starter. He knows how to read music, sheet music won't be a problem. The reason many people use tabs is because it is quick and easy. (ex.) If one knew how a song went, and even figued of part of it, one would use the tab for that song for simply referance. It is also a lot eaiser than ordering the sheet music off oe EBAY and or your music store.
If you can though... sheet musis IS the way 2 go.
[if anyone needs help reading sheet music, or understanding music theory, they can PM me any time]

The way I do tablature, it does.
Answer:
But the thing is how would you tab a 7 stroke roll or an open roll or anything with grace notes like flamadiddles or things like that? I'm just skeptical because all the drum tabs I've seen suck.

I use a program called TablEdit to compose the music I write for my band. I also use it for tabbing songs, as it is technically a tabbing program. I use it because it does drum tablature correctly. I'm pretty sure I could find a way to get those in.
Answer:
For drummers- as soon as you get past the "beginner" stage its pretty easy - its a very freestyle instrument. It's easy and fun to begin to learn to throw in your own fills and things in songs, instead of copying an exact beat from a song (seeing has how most of the song would be a repetitive 4/4 or 3/4 or 6/8 or whatever basic beat)... so i'd encourage you to begin to teach yourself, and add your own styles. That's why you can't find drum tabs, and even drum sheet music is limited (for most current contemp, praise&worship, etc) anyway, goodluck with that

Answer:
i agree with the above.. but sometimes when yer in a band, and yer band is just startin off, and that band is wanting to play some others music to begin with, it helps to have the tabs.
indubatebly.
