Question: I am a new guitar player and I absolutely love this website, but I dont understand it yet...I learn the strings like C C7 and C minor...you know the things of that sort....what are TABS? And how do you learn to play them? Thanks, Derrick and god bless. Answer: Hey, welcome to the boards. First off, this probably should have been posted somewhere like Theory and Technique. And as for tabs, they are a musical notation system designed just for guitar and bass. The six lines represent the six strings on a guitar. The bottom line corresponds to your low E string the top to your high E. Numbers represent what fret to play on which string like this; E--------------------------------------------------------- B--------------------------------------------------------- G--------------------------------------------------------- D--------------------------------------------------------- A----------4-----5-------4-----2--0-----0--2------------- E---2--2------2------2------2--------4--------4--2---0--- The 2's would be played on the second fret of your low E string. The 4's on the fourth fret of your A string and so forth. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
